In this day and age, Apple phones (a.k.a iPhones) are considered to be a status symbol because of their high cost and equally impressive features. Whether it is the camera quality, the ease of use or stringent security features, iPhones are always a class apart from the competition. Because of the popularity, owning the latest model as soon as they are available becomes the need of the hour. So what do you do with the old model in your hand?
One option would be to give it to a family member who could continue to use it. Either way, there are certain things you need to ensure before parting ways with your beloved smartphone.
There are 2 options for backing up your data on an iPhone. The first option is to back up your data on iCloud. Here the data is stored securely in the online storage space where all Apple users commonly store their data on a highly secure server owned by Apple. The backups are highly encrypted and can be downloaded on your new device using WiFi. By default, there is a free storage capacity of 5 GB offered which can be extended with different plans. In order to backup your data, connect to a WiFi network and open settings. Tap iCloud on your name, enable iCloud backup and click Tap backup now. You can watch the progress of your backup.
The other option is to back up your data on your MacBook or PC using iTunes. Here the storage capacity available will depend on the space available on the MacBook or PC to which you are transferring. You can encrypt your data once transferred and use the backup whenever required.
Once connected to the MacBook, open iTunes. Follow the instructions and enter the password. Locate your device on the MacBook and click Backup Now. The password will be really crucial once the transfer is complete since you cannot access the data without it.
